Abstract

The article is dedicated to All Saints’ Sunday in the Orthodox tradition, analyzing its place in the liturgical and theological context. The aim of the study is to present this feast as a synthesis of the Church’s teaching on holiness and as an expression of the faithful’s participation in the spiritual current of liturgical prayer. Drawing on an analysis of the historical and dogmatic background, as well as hymnography, the author presents the multifaceted character of All Saints’ Sunday as the culmination of the Holy Spirit’s activity in the Church and as confirmation of the universal call to holiness. The work is based on a study of hymnography as well as interpretation of images and hagiological motifs, pointing to the close connection of the feast with the whole economy of salvation. The main conclusion is that All Saints’ Sunday constitutes both a theological synthesis of the Church’s tradition and a living manifestation of the community’s spiritual experience, introducing the faithful into the mystery of the saving presence of the Holy Spirit and emphasizing the fundamental role of holiness in Christian existence.
